How to get SHA checksum values for files on macOS

Often times you may find it necessary to confirm the integrity of a file that you downloaded. This helps confirm that the file hasn't been tampered with or corrupted during transmission. There are a number of different checksums you may use, the most common include: MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512.
